(Neue Zürcher Zeitung (CH), 12.12.2013)

German“The Expelled: Flight and Expulsion in Twentieth-Century Europe”
JAN M. PISKORSKI
The Expelled
Flight and Expulsion in Twentieth-Century Europe
“Piskorski writes a European history of expulsion that moves beyond the mutual accusations of national groups and argues that these processes must be studied together. He places the expelled within a shared historical framework and awareness of their situation.” (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung)
“The strength of the book lies precisely in what is said.” (Deutschlandradio Kultur)
“Piskorski's book is the manifesto of a European who has lived through numerous historical displacements and disputes. It calls for the creation of a common culture of remembrance and sets important standards for the future.” (ARD — titel, thesen, temperamente, 25 August 2013)
“This book does not offer final answers, but it provides a wealth of information about deeper connections and lines of development whose origins are often suppressed.” (Cellesche Zeitung, 28 November 2013)
“A passionate, admonitory, at times provocative book.” (DER NEUE TAG, 17 March 2014)
“Piskorski's descriptions are precise, topical and relentlessly sober. Literary cross-references make the text a vivid testimony of memory. [...] It really ought to be required reading for everyone who belongs to European culture.” (Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Switzerland, 12 December 2013)
